Letters – Portuguese

Contemporary Brazilian society requires graduates in Letters-Portuguese to engage in social and professional activities that promote the development of citizenship awareness. The diverse roles that these graduates may assume necessitate not only an ethical commitment grounded in humanistic principles but also a dedication to the construction and reconstruction of knowledge. This knowledge should enable them to reflect on and understand their society.

Therefore, students in Letters-Portuguese must be able to recognize that society’s complexity is expressed through various forms and modes of language, reflecting different interests that are constantly in conflict. They must be prepared to take a stance in these situations. Additionally, they should master both spoken and written language skills and serve as multipliers, empowering others to achieve the same proficiency in language.
