Letters – French

Graduates of Letters – French should act as social agents who encourage reflection on the society to which they belong within the language teaching context. This involves contributing to the development of language skills, expanding students’ cultural and historical perspectives, and enhancing their self-awareness as citizens. As such, these graduates are envisioned as critical-social educators who foster a sense of citizenship in the French language classroom.

These professionals must reconfigure and mobilize knowledge about language usage and its literary and cultural expressions, establishing themselves as literacy agents. They should promote sensitivity to and understanding of the connections between language use and its variations, thereby contributing to the redefinition of citizenship. Additionally, they should view their vocational training as a reflective practice and as an ongoing, autonomous process.
