History
The History Course, offering a licentiate degree, emphasizes the integration of knowledge and practice, combining historical understanding with other disciplines central to humanistic training, such as social sciences, philosophy, and education. It encourages reflection on the various practices of the historian’s craft and its connections with other fields of knowledge. Graduates in History should be equipped to perform the historian’s work in all its dimensions, mastering the production and dissemination of historical knowledge and the corresponding educational practices. The course aims to develop professionals capable of:
● Reflecting on the multiple dimensions and experiences of historical subjects, and understanding the formation of different relationships between time and space;
● Engaging in interdisciplinary approaches, crossing the boundaries of history and other areas of knowledge, while identifying and emphasizing what is unique to historical knowledge;
● Internalizing ethical values and understanding the principles of justice, equity, and tolerance;
● Conducting research, producing knowledge, and disseminating it not only within the academic community but also in educational institutions, memory preservation organizations, and through the development of heritage and cultural management policies and projects, contributing to the media and any other contexts where the presence of a historian is needed.
