Philosophy

The Philosophy Course was established in 1949 by State Law No. 341/1949 and received authorization to operate on June 8, 1954, through Federal Decree No. 35,627. The Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) recognized the course in 1959, one year before the creation of UFPB, making it the oldest program in the Center of Sciences, Letters, and Arts (CCHLA). The course spans a minimum of four years and a maximum of seven years, offering two qualifications: a Bachelor’s Degree (requiring 2,340 hours of class time, equivalent to 156 credits) and a Full Degree (requiring 2,670 hours of class time, equivalent to 178 credits).

The Undergraduate Philosophy Course admits 60 students through its annual selection process. Currently, the course is in the process of developing new pedagogical projects.
